The Shamrock Shake Is Back—And It Brought a New McDonald’s Character With It

Shamrock Shake season has officially arrived, and McDonald’s is bringing a little extra luck to the celebration this year!

The fan-favourite minty-green treat is back for a limited time, but that’s not the only exciting news. Say hello to Uncle O’Grimacey, Grimace’s long-lost uncle from Sham Rock, Ireland. According to McDonald’s, Grimace recently rediscovered his family’s original Shamrock Shake recipe, which led him to reconnect with his vibrant and generous uncle—just in time for the shake’s return.

Sipping for a Good Cause

This year’s Shamrock Shake launch is also part of McDonald’s yearlong anniversary celebration of the Gift to RMHC program, honouring the fundraising efforts that helped open the first Ronald McDonald House back in 1974.

From Feb. 10 to March 23, 2025, McDonald’s will donate 25 cents from every Shamrock Shake sold to RMHC, with a goal of raising $5 million—enough to provide 50,000 overnight stays for families in need.

So, whether you’re in it for the nostalgia, the minty goodness, or the good cause, now’s the time to grab a Shamrock Shake before it disappears again!
