The Tooth Fairy Is Feeling the Budget Cuts—Payouts Drop 14%

Looks like even the Tooth Fairy isn’t immune to tough economic times. According to Delta Dental’s annual poll, the average payout per tooth has dropped 14% since last year, now sitting at $5.01 (down from $5.84).
Tooth Fairy Inflation: A Downward Trend?
🦷 First lost tooth? You’ll still get a little more—$6.24—but that’s down 12% from last year’s $7.09.
🦷 Second year of decline after an all-time high of $6.23 per tooth in 2023.
🦷 Still better than the ‘90s! In 1998, kids got an average of $1.30 per tooth, which adjusts to $2.55 in today’s dollars.

When Is National Tooth Fairy Day?
There are two National Tooth Fairy Days—February 28th and August 22nd—as reminders to get teeth cleaned every six months. But this is the one Delta Dental uses for their poll.
So, kids, maybe don’t spend that Tooth Fairy cash all in one place... or, better yet, start negotiating for back pay! 🦷💰
