Tread Lightly & Embrace Active Transportation This June!

June is Bike Month—a province-wide celebration of cycling from June 1 to 30—and Living Green Barrie is once again teaming up with Firebird Community Cycle to bring you the Second Annual Barrie Bicycle Poker Ride on Saturday, June 7, 2025!

This family-friendly, self-directed ride invites you to explore Barrie on two wheels, support local businesses, and celebrate active transportation—all while having a blast with your crew.

​Here’s how it works:

• Ride solo, with your family, or as a team of up to 4
• Visit participating local businesses and family-friendly spots to complete fun challenges and collect playing cards.
• Start anytime after 9:00 AM—you don’t need to commit your whole day! Your ride your way!
  • Many teams can collect enough cards for a hand in under an hour.
• Be at One Eyed Jack (Wellington Plaza) by 3:00 PM for the post-ride celebration and prize ceremony, running until 5:00 PM

Whether you’re on a bike, e-bike, or e-scooter, all two-wheeled riders are welcome. The ride takes place on city streets, so participants should be comfortable riding in traffic.

🚴 Bike Poker Ride – Saturday, June 7, 2025

Join us for a day of cycling, challenges, and community fun while supporting two local non-profits: Living Green Barrie and Firebird Community Cycle.

🕘 Start: Any time (self-directed) but you will need to be at One Eyed Jack by 3pm for prizes and celebration.

🎯 Goal: Visit as many participating locations as you’d like, complete fun activities, and collect playing cards to build your best poker hand.  It’s not a race – this is a chance to leisurely pedal with friends and family while supporting local businesses.

🏁 Wrap-up: Celebration and prize ceremony at One Eyed Jack from 3:00–5:00 PM (all teams must check in by 3:00 PM)

🎟️ Entry Fee:

• Early Bird (until May 31): $40 per team (up to 4 people) or per family
  
• Regular (May 31 onward): $60 per team (up to 4 people) or per family

🏆 Prizes awarded for:

• Best poker hand
• Most locations visited
• Best team name (make it witty!)
• …and more fun surprises!

📋 Team Info Required at Registration:

• Add Team Captain (main contact/registrant) in the Attendee Information fields.
• Team Name- be creative!
• Number of people on your team
• If you are a solo entry and would prefer to ride with others, please contact us (pokerride@firebirdcycle.ca) and we will attempt to connect you with a team.

💚 By participating, you’re helping support environmental education, community cycling programs, and greener transportation options in Barrie.
