Mariska Hargitay Is Hosting the Emmys... and It's About Time!

The Emmys have found their host, and let's be honest... if anyone can keep a room full of celebrities in line, it's Olivia Benson.
Mariska Hargitay has officially been announced as the host of the 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards, airing live on September 14.
It'll be the first time she's hosted television's biggest night, and she'll also make history as the first woman to host the Emmys in 15 years.
The last female host was Jane Lynch back in 2011, making Hargitay just the fourth woman to host the awards solo this century.
Of course, most of us know her as the legendary Olivia Benson on Law & Order: SVU, a role she's been playing since 1999. She even won an Emmy for it back in 2006, and somehow the show is still going strong.

In fact, SVU is about to kick off its 28th season, making it the longest-running primetime live-action drama in TV history.
The announcement comes just before this year's Emmy nominations are revealed, with the awards show set to air live on September 14.
Here's hoping nobody interrupts Mariska's opening monologue... because after nearly three decades on SVU, she knows exactly how to handle unruly behaviour.
