“Imax Hubble”. Hubble enables movie-goers to journey through distant galaxies to explore the grandeur and mysteries of our celestial surroundings, and accompany space-walking astronauts as they attempt the most difficult and important tasks in NASA’s history. The film offers an inspiring and unique look into the Hubble Space Telescope’s legacy and highlight its profound impact on the way we view the universe and ourselves. Join us for a themed craft after the movie.

The library has teamed up with Scientists in Schools to bring you some forensic fun. Step into the shoes of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson to solve the mystery! Limit of 25 participants ages 7 – 12 years. Age limit is firm. The Library will be taking reservations for the first 18 spots and then the remaining 7 spots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Registration begins on June 28 at any Public Service Desk or by calling 705-728-1010 ext 7019.

Mini Golf!
We bet you have never played golf inside the library before! The Painswick Branch is opening its doors after closing time for a family event like none other: Library Mini Golf! Test your skill amongst the stacks as you putt putt putt along our indoor golf course. This family friendly event is open to children of all ages but parents or a caregiver must remain in the library with any children under the age of 10 years. Note that regular library services will not be available during this event.

Pan Am Games
We’re celebrating Canada’s athletes this summer at the Library! Join us to test out your own athletic abilities with some silly, sporty fun on the library lawn! In case of bad weather the program will take place in the Angus Ross Room downtown, and the Massie Family Program Room at Painswick.

Enjoy a concert by Juno award nominee singer Mary Lambert. Mary has had two Juno nominations and ten awards from the United States (Parents’ Choice Award Winner, iParenting Award Winner, Preferred Choice Award Winner, and Dr. Toy, Best Children’s Vacation Product Award Winner). Since 1993, Mary has toured and performed over 3000 shows at schools, libraries, music festivals and family focused events throughout Canada. Mary Lambert Productions has released 12 CDs, and two live concert DVDs.

…Woodworking!
Come build with us! The Library is pleased to be partnering with the Barrie Community Woodshop to offer a free workshop for children ages 7 – 12 years. Children will be using screws, glue and sandpaper to assemble precut wooden pieces to make stools. There are three sessions to choose from. The program is limited to 20 children with 15 spots being pre-registered and guaranteed and the other 5 spots offered on a first come-first serve basis. Ages limit is firm. Registration for the July workshops begins June 29 and for the August workshop on August 4 at any Public Service station or by calling 728-1010 ext 7019.
