HIGHWAY 400 IS GETTING EVEN BIGGER 🚗🚙🚗

Good news for anyone who spends their life staring at brake lights on Highway 400: Ontario is planning to make it wider.

The province has awarded a design contract to expand an 11-kilometre stretch of Highway 400 from six lanes to 10, between Highway 9 and the future Bradford Bypass.

The expansion will add one regular lane and one HOV lane in each direction.

It's part of Ontario's $31-billion plan to build, repair and expand highways, roads and bridges over the next decade.

So eventually, Highway 400 will have 10 lanes. Which means we'll have even more room to enjoy our favourite Ontario driving traditions:

Doing 92 in the left lane.

Changing four lanes without signalling.

And somehow, despite having TEN LANES...everyone will still be stopped near Barrie on Friday afternoon.

ARE THESE RELATABLE?

You might be on Highway 400 if… you’re doing 120 and somehow you’re still the slow one.

You might be on Highway 400 if… a black Dodge Ram appears in your rear-view mirror close enough to perform a dental exam.

You might be on Highway 400 if… your GPS says 35 minutes, but emotionally you know it’s two hours.

You might be on Highway 400 if… you’ve gone from 120 km/h to zero without ever knowing why.

You might be on Highway 400 if… the person riding your ass could at least buy you dinner first.

You might be on Highway 400 if… your commute includes three coffees, four swear words and one moment where you seriously consider moving to Huntsville.

You might be on Highway 400 if… you’ve spent 25 minutes crawling toward an accident that turns out to be… absolutely nothing.

You might be on Highway 400 if… you see one orange construction cone and know you’re about to lose 45 minutes of your life.

You might be on Highway 400 if… you started the commute as a nice Canadian and arrived in Toronto ready to fight a Honda Civic.
