ONE IN FIVE OF US THINK OUR FAKE BRITISH ACCENT COULD FOOL A BRIT

British accents are hot right now. There was a story last week on how young people sometimes shift into one when they’re nervous. And TikTok is full of instructional videos.
But according to a new poll, some of us don’t think we need the help: One in five North Americans think their fake British accent is good enough to fool an ACTUAL Brit.
19% say their accent is so good, someone from England wouldn’t be able to tell. Men are twice as likely to be cocky about it. 25% of guys think their accent could fool a Brit, compared to 13% of women.
Young people are also way more confident than older Americans. Only around 5% of people over 45 think they can do a convincing accent, compared to 35% of adults under 30.
