Most Single Parents Say Their Best Days Are Still Ahead of Them

Published March 20, 2025

For many single parents, the end of a relationship isn’t the end of their story—it's just the beginning of a major personal transformation. New research reveals that a whopping two-thirds of single parents believe in the post-breakup glow-up, a period where they rediscover themselves and emerge stronger and more confident than ever before.

The Glow Up Is Real

A study of 1,000 single moms and 1,000 single dads found that the majority reported feeling better about themselves post-breakup. Key signs of the glow-up include:

  • Confidence in who they are (57%)
  • Feeling better about themselves than ever before (52%)
  • Embracing who they truly are (51%)

But the glow-up isn’t just about feeling good—it’s also about maturing and evolving into a more grounded version of themselves. In fact, 77% of single parents experienced a "grow up", where they gained perspective on their life and relationships.

Maturity & Confidence Shine Through

After rediscovering themselves, 70% of single parents report that their relationship with themselves improved since becoming a single parent. And it’s not just about personal growth—single parents are more dateable than ever!

Over half (54%) say they've been approached more by potential dates since becoming single parents. What makes them so attractive? Maturity (55%), the ability to show care and attention (54%), and responsibility (54%) are considered the top three "instant turn-ons."

Ready for Love Again

Most single parents don’t jump back into dating right away. On average, they spend 11 months of self-discovery before venturing back out onto the dating scene. During this time, they focus on taking care of themselves (39%) and learning how to prioritize their own needs (35%).

What’s Changed Beyond Dating?

While many single parents are embracing a new dating life, their personal lives have evolved in other ways too.

  • Two in five (41%) are spending more time with family and friends
  • Dads are focusing more on fitness (35%), while single moms prioritize self-care (41%)
  • Both moms and dads are trying new things, whether it’s new hobbiesnew foods, or classes
