Things That Millennials Ended Or Ruined …
Millennials, the avocado toast-loving, participation-award-winning generation, are constantly under fire for supposedly ruining everything. But now, social media is buzzing with things people are actually glad Millennials ended or ruined.
Let's take a look at what many said they are cheering, and why others might be reaching for their smelling salts.
1. The Idea That Work Is The Most Important Thing
Millennials challenged the notion that work should consume your life. They believe in a healthy balance, advocating for "acting your wage" and getting fair compensation for their efforts. It's about working smart, not just working all the time.
2. I Hate My Spouse Jokes
Millennials ushered in a wave of positivity in relationships. Jokes that put down spouses are on the decline, replaced by celebrating healthy partnerships.
3. Being An Absent Dad
Millennials are redefining fatherhood. Dads are actively involved in their children's lives, making "dadding" a badge of honor.
4. Mental Health Stigmas
Millennials are open about mental health struggles, destigmatizing depression and anxiety. They encourage open communication and seeking help, making it easier for everyone to prioritize mental well-being.
5. Homophobia and Shunning The LGBTQ+ Community
Homophobia is on the decline thanks in part to Millennials' acceptance and advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community. They celebrate diversity and inclusion, making the world a more welcoming place.
6. Ironing Clothes
Thanks to advancements in fabrics and fashion, say goodbye to the drudgery of ironing! Millennials embrace low-maintenance clothing that looks good without the hassle.
7. Crappy Chain Restaurants
Forget overpriced, mediocre food. Millennials are driving the demand for authentic, high-quality dining experiences (RIP Hooters!).
8. Junk Food
Millennials are all about health and wellness. While the "hippie boomers" might have started the movement, it's Millennials who've made healthy eating mainstream.
9. Cigarettes
Cigarettes are losing their appeal, thanks in part to Millennials' focus on health and environmental awareness. (Bad news is, they replaced it with vaping.)
10. Country Clubs
Millennials prioritize experiences over exclusivity. Fancy clubs are less their style, with a focus on social interaction and activities that don't require a hefty membership fee.
11. Lawncare Obsessions
The obsession with perfectly manicured lawns is fading. Millennials are embracing eco-friendly alternatives and using their outdoor space for relaxation and connection with nature.
12. Knick Knacks At It's Worst
Gone are the days of amassing endless knick-knacks, even expensive ones. Millennials prioritize experiences and functionality, with a focus on decluttering and less intensive dusting. (Though, that Pokémon collection in the basement might be another story!)
13. Cable TV
Streaming services offer more choice and flexibility, so ditching cable is a natural progression for Millennials. Why pay for channels you never watch?
10. Bar Soap (Maybe)
While Millennials might prefer body washes and lotions, bar soap is making a comeback with new, skin-friendly formulas.
