The May long weekend is just around the corner, marking the unofficial kickoff to summer! Falling on the second last Monday of May, Victoria Day is a uniquely Canadian celebration of Queen Victoria’s birthday. In 2025, the holiday lands May 17 to 19, and there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy it.
From vibrant festivals and outdoor markets to live music and fun for the whole family, here’s everything happening this weekend:
Portarama 40th Anniversary Celebrations
Port McNicoll is the place to be as Portarama marks 40 years of community spirit! The festivities start Friday night with a lively anniversary party at Marina’s Sports Bar, featuring live music by Kitty and the Boyz, a buffet, raffle prizes, and dancing (doors at 6 PM, band 7–10 PM). Tickets are $20 each or 2 for $35.
On Saturday and Sunday, explore Portarama’s Community Yard Sale for town-wide treasures. The weekend also includes a Craft & Vendor Show at Talbot Park, family activities like face painting, and fireworks at Patterson Park after 2 PM on Saturday.
Blue Mountain Resort
Blue Mountain turns up the energy May 17 to 19 with a weekend street party! Enjoy live music from Genevieve Cyr, Rob Watts, Mik Perlus, Dean James, and Tyler Boyle on the Subaru Stage. Try your hand at the daily Scavenger Hunt (11 AM–5 PM), get in on Groove Dancing with Tyler Boyle, and unwind with campfire sing-alongs each night. Plus, giant games keep the fun going all weekend.

Mountain bikers, rejoice! The Bikes, Brews & BBQs weekend at Horseshoe Resort (May 16–19) kicks off summer with the Downhill Mountain Bike Park opening, live music, beer tents (Creemore and Molson), and plenty of BBQ on Ontario’s largest patio. Join Lap-A-palooza for your shot at prizes and bragging rights!
Friday Harbour Resort
Enjoy waterfront vibes all weekend long at Friday Harbour! Shop the Outdoor Market (Saturday 11–8, Sunday 11–6), check out the Promenade retailers, and soak up live music at the CIBC Pier (Friday 4–11, Saturday/Sunday 12–11).
