Ahh, the first kiss. Is there anything better? Turns out there are many reasons as to why we homosapiens love to pucker up. Here are some fun facts about kissing that you may not know about.

1. Its a natural high.

When you kiss someone for the first time, you get a spike in the neurotransmitter dopamine, making you crave more.

2. The first on screen kiss happened in 1896.

Thomas Edison was the first person to show and on screen kiss in a film that he made called “The Kiss”. The film was only 23 seconds long and it featured Canadian actress May Irwin.

3.  The kissing world record

It’s held by Thai couple Ekkachai Tiranarat and Laksana Tiranarat who set it in the run up to Valentine’s day last year, with a kiss lasting 58 hours, 35 minutes and 58 seconds.

4. Over time, kissing lowers your levels of stress hormone cortisol, making you feel all safe and secure.

5. Approximately two-thirds of people tip their head to the right when they kiss. Some scholars speculate this preference starts in the womb
