Just Five Minutes Spent On Social Media Is Enough To Make You Miserable!
Experts at the University of Essex found people who saw bad Covid-related news when they were on social media suffered an “immediate and significant” reduction in happiness. This can occur in just two to four minutes!
On the flip-side, people who looked for posts that showed acts of kindness instead were less likely to end up in a bad mood. Watching those puppy reels are good for you!
The study found that getting information on the pandemic from Twitter or YouTube was linked to a drop in positivity and made people feel less optimistic.
Experts say, “Given that many people spend five to 10 times the amount of time interacting with Covid-related news each day, this likely offers a conservative estimate of the emotional toll.”
