A Connecticut Lawmaker Wants Movie Theatres to Reveal Actual Start Times
Ever wished you could skip the never-ending trailers and ads before a movie? Well, a Connecticut state senator is trying to make that a reality.
Senator Martin Looney has introduced a bill that would require movie theatres to list two start times:
- The time the trailers and ads begin
- The exact time the movie starts
Why Does This Matter?
If you’ve been to a movie lately, you know that the “start time” printed on your ticket is a lie. Theatres pack screenings with previews and ads, often delaying the actual film by 15-25 minutes.
This bill would allow moviegoers to arrive just in time for the feature, avoiding the bombardment of promotional content.

Will It Happen?
Not so fast. Movie theatres rely on ad revenue, and if fewer people are watching those pre-movie commercials, advertisers may pull their funding. With theatres already struggling to bring audiences back, losing that money could be a major hit.
What do you think—would you love to know the real start time, or do you secretly enjoy the trailers? 🍿
