Netflix Revives Little House on the Prairie with a Modern Twist
The Ingalls family is heading back to TV! Netflix has officially ordered a new Little House on the Prairie series, bringing Laura Ingalls Wilder’s beloved 19th-century story to a whole new generation.
This fresh take on the classic series comes more than 40 years after the original adaptation aired its final episode on NBC. The project is helmed by Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys, The Vampire Diaries), promising a version that balances nostalgia with emotional depth.
“Little House on the Prairie has captured the hearts and imaginations of so many fans around the world, and we’re excited to share its enduring themes of hope and optimism with a fresh take on this iconic story,” said Netflix VP of drama series Jinny Howe.
The original show, which ran from 1974 to 1983, remains a fan-favourite, spawning several follow-up TV movies. Now, Netflix hopes to introduce the timeless themes of family, resilience, and pioneer life to both long-time fans and a whole new audience.
