Roll Up The Rim Goes Retro: Tim Hortons Brings Back the Cup Peel for Its 40th Anniversary

Tim Hortons is dusting off one of Canada’s most beloved rituals, and yes, your fingers are about to get coffee-scented again. The physical “Roll Up The Rim” cups are back for 2026, launching Feb. 23 to mark the contest’s 40th anniversary.
After years of digital-only tapping and swiping, the classic paper rim reveal is returning thanks to overwhelming feedback from customers who apparently missed the thrill of aggressively peeling cardboard at 7 a.m. Tim Hortons says the old-school roll is now here to stay alongside the app version.

The contest runs Feb. 23 to March 22, with more than 30 million prizes up for grabs, including all-inclusive trips and seven 2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz electric vehicles.
You can play the traditional way with hot beverage cups while supplies last, or rack up digital rolls through the Tims app, Rewards purchases, mobile orders, reusable cups, and even grocery store products.
Digital rolls must be opened by April 3, and major cup prizes claimed by May 4. The contest is open to Canadians aged 13 and up, 14 in Quebec.
So yes, the great national sport of pretending you didn’t just lose… again… is officially back. 🇨🇦☕️
