Haven't 'Booked' Your March Break Plans Yet? Head To The Library!

The Barrie Public Library has three different branches across Barrie, and is gearing up for March Break with exciting events and activities that you and the family can enjoy. There's going to be so much going on that we couldn't fit it all in, but we've made a list of some of the highlights for March Break for you. To see their full programing, click here.

Saturday, March 14th

• Zootopia Dance Party (Holly Branch from 10AM to 11AM) - Hop on over to the dance floor and show off your wild moves!
• Paw Patrol Celebration (Downtown Branch from 10AM to 11AM) - Enjoy a visit from Chase, and more fun activites!
• Mini Golf (Painswick Branch from 2:30PM to 4PM) - Putt your way through their mini putt course and enjoy a fun, casual challenge!

Sunday, March 15th

• Stuffie Vacation (Downtown Branch from 10AM to 11AM) - Send your favourite stuffie on vacation with fun acitivites and photo updates, sparking imagination and magic!
• Movie & Craft (Painswick Branch from 2:30PM - 4:30PM) - Enjoy a family movie and make a craft while you watch! Admission is free and you can bring snacks and refreshments.
• Comic Creators (Holly Branch from 2:30PM to 3:30PM) - Create your very own comic strip with fun characters, bold art, and epic adventure!

Monday, March 16th

• Mario Obstacle Course (Holly Branch from 9:30AM to 11AM) - Try to make it through the Mushroom Kingdom while looking for Power Stars, Fire Flowers and even meet a special guest or two!
• The Paper Bag Princess Puppet Show (Painswick Branch from 10AM to 10:30AM) - Watch as the classic tale is brought to life with this special performance!
• Birds of Prey (Downtown Branch at two separate times, ticketed event with free tickets available starting one week prior to event) - Experience magnificent live birds of prey with the library's special guests from The Eyrie of Prey Centre. Get up close to the birds while learning about their habitats and more.

Tuesday, March 17th

• Mario Party (Downtown Branch from 10AM to 11AM) - Celebrate the world's most famous plumber! Find Princess Peach, or see if Bowser has her in another castle. Enjoy crafts, activities and Mario Fun!
• Robots! Robots! Robots! (Downtown Branch from 2:30PM to 3:30PM) - Revit up with Robotics! Join the library and try out some of their tech toys.
• Build It (Holly Branch From 2:30PM to 3:30PM) - Calling all builders! Challenge yourelf to build the silliest or most inventive structure. This program is best for Ages 6+, and has a limited capacity, first-come, first-served.

Wednesday, March 18th

• Pete the Cat Celebration (Downtown Branch from 10AM to 11AM) - Join the library and celebrate everyone's favourite groovy feline, Pete the Cat. Featuring stories, music, movement, and hands-on activities.
• Caricature Portraits with Scott Russell (Holly Branch from 10AM to 1PM) - Strike a pose and watch as caricature artist Scott Russell sketches a funny and unique portrait of you and your family! Register for this event.
• Magic Show (Downtown Branch from 2:30PM to 3:30PM) - This event is ticketed, but you can bring the family for moments of wonder and excitement with Phil DaCosta, and family-friendly magician.

Thursday, March 19th

• Escape Room: Locked In The Library (Painswick Branch from 10AM to 4PM) - Get locked into the Library with Dog Man, Pete the Cat, and Arthur, and see if you can escape! You must register in person, as space is limited. Each escape room is 20 minutes.
• K Pop Demon Hunters (Downtown Branch from 2:30PM to 3:30PM) Create your own idol persona in the magical world and unleash your own superstar!
• Crafty Kids (Holly Branch from 2:30PM to 3:30PM) Unleash your imagination and join the library for a fun-filled crafting experience!

Friday, March 20th

• Stranger Things Escape Room (Holly Branch from 10AM to 4PM) - Grab your team, solve puzzles, crack codes, and uncover clues before time runs out! You must register for this event.
• Friday Flicks (Painswick Branch from 2:30 to 4:30PM and 6:30PM to 8:30PM) Come out for a family movie, with two different times available so you can attend whichever works better for you!
• Lego Robotics Showcase (Painswick Branch from 10AM to 12PM) Take a sneak peak at the new Tech Titans program, and check out what their students have been creating, play with robots and check out their LEGO SPIKE kits!

Saturday, March 21st

• Unicorn Party (Downtown Branch from 9:30AM to 11AM) - Bring your own unique sparkle, featuring crafts and fun activities celebrating unicorns and imagination!
• Drama Camp (Painswick Branch from 2:30PM to 3:30PM) - Join in for a fun-filled afternoon of theatre games and mask painting and unleash your inner stars and showcase your creative sides!
• Board Games & Puzzles (Holly Branch from 2PM to 4PM) - Drop in with friends or family to play classic board games, discover new favourites and tackle fun!

Sunday, March 22nd

• Mindfulness Storytime (Holly Branch from 10AM to 11AM) - Join for a special story time and craft that incorporates gentle movement coupled with mindfullness.
• Drama Camp (Downtown Branch from 2:30pm to 3:30PM) - Join in for a fun-filled afternoon of theatre games and mask painting and unleash your inner stars and showcase your creative sides!
• Crafty Kids (Holly Branch from 2:30PM to 3:30PM) Unleash your imagination and join the library for a fun-filled crafting experience!
