IT’S THE END OF AN ERA: 7UP IS NO LONGER “LEMON-LIME” 🍋‍🟩🥤

Published August 12, 2026

Everyone, remain calm. There’s been a major development in the soft drink aisle.

For the first time in more than 15 years, 7UP is changing its recipe. And apparently, it is no longer a lemon-lime soda.

It’s now...

LIME-LEMON.

7UP is tweaking its formula to make the drink a little more lime-forward, and the change is coming to the entire lineup, including Zero Sugar, Cherry 7UP and Cherry Zero Sugar.

The new recipe should start showing up in stores within the next couple of weeks, and you’ll be able to spot it because the packaging will actually say “Lime-Lemon.”

According to the company, putting lime first will create a more refreshing flavour.

And apparently, we can blame the youths.

7UP says 72 per cent of Gen Z and Gen Alpha consumers are drawn to citrus-forward flavours, while 64 per cent prefer bolder, more intense tastes.

An influencer who got an early taste compared the old and new versions side-by-side and said the difference is actually pretty subtle. If you weren't specifically looking for it, you might not even notice.

So, to recap...

7UP hasn't become unrecognizable.

It hasn't turned blue.

It hasn't added protein.

It's just a little more limey.

But after decades of saying “lemon-lime,” we're now expected to say “lime-lemon.”

And I'm sorry, but that sounds wrong.

It's like saying cheese and macjelly and peanut butter, or double-double Tim.

Some things have an order, 7UP.
