Apparently, we've found another thing that Gen Z and Boomers disagree on.

And this time...

It's potatoes.

A recent poll asked people to name their favourite way to eat a potato, and the overall winner should surprise absolutely nobody:

French fries.

Thirty per cent picked fries as their favourite, followed by mashed potatoes at 17 per cent and baked potatoes at 16 per cent.

Then we've got potato chips and roasted potatoes at 7 per cent each, hash browns at 6, tater tots at 5 and potato salad at 4. One per cent said... “I don't like potatoes.”

But here's where things get interesting. Apparently, the humble baked potato is losing younger generations.

Among Boomers, 28 per cent say baked potatoes are their favourite. That drops to 19 per cent for Gen X. Then 12 per cent for Millennials. And just 5 per cent of Gen Z.

Gen Z looked at a baked potato and said: “This is just mashed potatoes with homework.”

Meanwhile, younger people are more likely to favour French fries, hash browns and potato chips.

Which makes sense. A baked potato requires effort. You've got to cut it open.

Fluff it. Add butter. Sour cream. Cheese. Bacon. Green onions. And by the time you're finished...

You've basically built a tiny edible Costco food court. But I refuse to accept that baked potatoes are uncool. Because once you hit a certain age, a loaded baked potato isn't a side dish. It's Friday night plans. And if loving a baked potato makes me old...Fine.

Just make sure there's extra sour cream.
