Think You Always Smell Bad? It Might Be This Little-Known Syndrome

Published March 5, 2025

Ever convinced you have BO, even when no one else notices? You might not just be paranoid—there’s a name for it.

Olfactory Reference Syndrome (ORS) is a psychiatric condition where people obsess over the idea that they smell bad, even when they don’t. This leads to:
🚫 Avoiding social events
🤯 Misinterpreting gestures (like someone touching their nose = "I stink!")
😞 Extreme anxiety & embarrassment

In severe cases, people with ORS isolate themselves completely, convinced their imaginary odour is unbearable.
