‘Candyman’ Takes Top Spot At The Box Office This Weekend
It earned an impressive $22 million!
This is the sequel to 1992 original, written by Jordan Peele and directed by Sia DaCosta (Captain Marvel 2).
The ‘Candyman’ sequel is on track to become one of the first movies in this new pandemic era to actually be profitable during its theatrical run. ‘Candyman’ cost $25 million to produce and with $22 million earned in its opening weekend- movie bosses couldn’t be happier!
‘Candyman’ has been well received by critics and moviegoers, with an 85% on Rotten Tomatoes and “B” CinemaScore.
In the film series, he is depicted as an African-American man who was brutally murdered for a forbidden 19th-century interracial love affair; he returns as an urban legend and kills anyone who summons him by saying his name five times in front of a mirror.
