Dolly Parton’s Husband, Carl Dean, Passes Away at 82

Carl Dean, Dolly Parton’s husband of nearly 60 years, has passed away at the age of 82.
In a statement, Parton shared, “Words can't do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years.” Dean’s private funeral will be attended only by immediate family, with the family asking for privacy during this difficult time.
A Love Story for the Ages
Parton met Dean outside the Wishy Washy Laundromat on the very day she moved to Nashville at just 18 years old. Two years later, in 1966, they married in a small ceremony in Ringgold, Georgia. Despite his preference for staying out of the spotlight, Dean was one of Parton’s greatest inspirations—including the muse behind her hit song Jolene, which was inspired by a flirty bank teller who caught his attention.

A Rock & Roll Influence
While Dolly is a country music legend, Dean’s love for rock music played a role in her career, especially with her 2023 Rockstar album. She even covered some of his favourites, including Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Free Bird and Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven.
Dean is survived by Parton and his siblings, Sandra and Donnie. May he rest in peace. ❤️
