TVOKids “Push 2 Buttons”
BFES, the Office of the Fire Marshal and TVOKids are teaming up to raise awareness about testing smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Kids can get involved and ‘Push 2 Buttons’ with their parents’ help, to hear if the alarms are working. They can then go to tvokids.com to add the number of alarms they’ve tested to the TVOKids “Push 2 Buttons” counter. Kids will also be able to print a special “Push 2 Buttons” certificate.

Thanksgiving Fire Safety Cooking Demo
The Butcher Shop – 221 Cundles Rd East
Residents are invited to join BFES at the Butcher Shop for a live cooking demo to learn about fire safety in the kitchen as families get ready to serve up their Thanksgiving feasts on the weekend. Enjoy giveaways and special “recipes for safety”.
During Fire Prevention Week (October 4-10, 2015) IFRS will be at Alcona Glen Elementary school with the fire safety trailer. The students from grades K-3 will be learning fire safety around the kitchen and living room, by identifying hazards located in the trailer. They will also be learning the importance of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and how to escape the bedroom by crawling low below the smoke.
The following week (October 13-16, 2015) IFRS will be at St. Francis of Assisi with the safety trailer.
The IFRS trailer will continue touring the local schools throughout the month, with the final fire safety and prevention classes being held on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 and Wednesday, November 4, 2015.
Friday October 9
Oro-Medonte Fire and Emergency Services will be teaming up with OK Friday Barn Fair at Burl’s Creek Event Grounds located at 180 Line 8 South, Oro-Medonte to celebrate Fire Prevention Week 2015. Firefighters will be on site with fire trucks, fire safety information and games for the kids from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. each Friday. Come out and join us for fantastic food and fun!
