'Big Four' to blame for most highway deaths

Another long weekend, another police safety blitz. OPP and local police will be cracking down again on distracted, aggressive and impaired driving, as well as those not wearing seatbelts. OPP report 227 deaths this year on roads they patrol.  The “Big Four” were contributing factors in 170 of those deaths “Drivers and passengers must be mindful of the critical role they play in changing dangerous driving behaviours. The OPP knows that enforcement works and educating the public about safe driving practices is a priority,”  said Deputy Commissioner Brad Blair, Provincial Commander of Traffic Safety and Operational Support .
