Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson Call It Quits After a Decade Together

Published January 14, 2025

Jessica Simpson and her husband, Eric Johnson, are officially parting ways after a decade of marriage.

The singer, actress, and entrepreneur confirmed the news in a heartfelt statement to People magazine earlier today, describing the separation as "a painful situation" but one focused on prioritizing their family.

"Our children come first, and we are focussing on what is best for them," Simpson shared.

The announcement follows a cryptic Instagram post from Simpson last week, where she posted a selfie with the caption, “Life is short. SMILE while you still have teeth.” Fans were left speculating, and now, the news has been confirmed.

From Love at First Sight to Family of Five

Jessica and Eric, a former NFL player, first crossed paths in 2010 through a mutual friend. It didn’t take long for sparks to fly—Johnson popped the question just six months later. The couple tied the knot in July 2014 in a dreamy ceremony at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California, surrounded by over 250 of their closest friends and family.

During their marriage, the couple welcomed three children: daughters Maxwell "Maxi" Drew, 12, and Birdie Mae, five, and their son, Ace Knute, 11.

Moving Forward

While this chapter of their love story has come to an end, Simpson and Johnson remain committed to co-parenting and keeping their kids’ well-being at the forefront.

No further details about the reason for their separation have been shared, but the pair is determined to navigate this transition with grace.
