My Personal Thoughts

As the resident Harry Potter fan here (Everyday I'm Slytherin), I had to jump in and share my reaction to the big news.

I've been a big fan of John's work for as long as I can remember, and think that he could bring something fresh to the role. However, the potential for disaster is as big as the potential for success here.

Some would worry that his natural comedic talent might make Dumbledore more cartoonish. To those people I say, watch The Crown and see how well John plays Winston Churchill.

Plus, Lithgow has a lot of source material to work with... Between the books, and the two actors that took the role before him. With all that in his toolbelt, I think he is going to be an amazing addition to the Potterverse.
