Liberal Party Member Charged With Influencing Sudbury By Election Candidate

OPP say they’ve wrapped up a complex investigation into allegations of electoral irregularities in Sudbury. The Anti-Rackets Branch started looking into the issue in January, after allegations surfaced that a Sudbury liberal party member offered his party’s candidate a job or appointment to step aside in favour of Premier Wynne’s preferred choice. That party member has now been charged in relation to influencing the candidate nomination process. The candidate alleged to be Wynne’s favourite went on to win the by election.
