Two Men Tried to Launch Drugs into Prison with a Cannon

Some people take inspiration from cartoons a little too seriously...
Two men, aged 18 and 19, were busted attempting to smuggle $200,000 worth of contraband into a federal prison in Louisiana—with a cannon. Yes, you read that right.
Their plan? Fire $112,000 worth of tobacco and $90,000 worth of meth over the prison’s security fence using a cannon with a range of over 350 feet. It’s unclear whether prison officials caught them in the act or got tipped off beforehand.

While we don’t know the exact details of the cannon, it wasn’t some old-timey, 19th-century relic. It used compressed air—likely more of a high-powered t-shirt cannon than pirate artillery.
It’s also worth noting that aiming a cannon at a prison probably isn’t the most subtle approach. (Did they think no onewould notice a giant object being fired at the property?)
Both men have been arrested, and one is reportedly in the country illegally. Safe to say this scheme isn’t blasting off anytime soon.
