School Board, City Of Barrie Working Overtime On New South End High School

Talks encouraging

The deadline has come on gone for the school board to revise its plans for a new high school in the south end that will appease the planners at city hall. That hasn’t happened, but city staff told council last night there have been some encouraging discussions with the board and recommended they be allowed to continue. Mayor Jeff Lehman notes it’s a complex development and the last thing the city wants to do is cut discussions off if there’s a solution in the works.  The issue has been with placement of the school building on the property at Mapleview and Prince William Way.
