Scientists have developed edible cling wrap made from Milk!

Yum.  Because scientists have developed an edible cling wrap, made from milk protein, and it could be available within three years.

The new cling wrap has been developed to keep food fresher and is said to be 500 times better than plastics at keeping oxygen away from food.

As it’s made from casein – a protein found in milk – it is also biodegradable, sustainable and, with the addition of a few extra flavourings, edible.

Some commercially available edible packaging is already on the market, but they are made of starch, which is more porous and allows oxygen to seep through its micro-holes.
