The Dixie Chicks change their name to The Chicks
"We want to meet this moment"
Best-selling Texas country trio The Dixie Chicks officially dropped the word "Dixie" from their name on Thursday. The move was made to remove a reference to the Civil War-era South. The Chicks also released a new protest song called March March.
The change came with minimal comment from the band. A statement on their website said simply "We want to meet this moment"
