Would You Rather Have a Surprise Gift or Something You Asked For?
Let’s talk about one of life’s most debated holiday dilemmas: Does knowing what you're getting for Christmas take away the magic, or is it the ultimate satisfaction? Turns out, the majority of people still crave the thrill of surprise!
A recent poll asked: Would you rather be surprised with a gift or receive something you specifically asked for? And the results might surprise you (pun intended).
The Verdict Is In: Surprise Wins the Day
In an era dominated by Amazon wish lists and gift cards, you'd think everyone would lean toward practicality. But only 26% of people said they'd prefer to ask for something and receive it.
A whopping 56% said they'd rather be surprised, even if it meant the gift might not be exactly what they wanted. The element of surprise still holds a lot of holiday magic for most of us!
As for the remaining 18% were on the fence, saying they like both types of gifts equally—or just couldn’t decide.

There’s something undeniably exciting about not knowing what’s under the tree. Even if you end up with another pair of socks or a quirky gift that’s not quite your vibe, it’s the thought and mystery that count. On the flip side, asking for exactly what you want guarantees no awkward smiles or post-holiday return trips.
