How Old Do You Have to Be to Call Yourself “Middle-Aged”?

Published February 6, 2025

Are you middle-aged? Well, that depends on who you ask.

📖 Merriam-Webster says it’s between “about 40” and “about 60.”
📊 A recent poll found that:

  • 1 in 4 people under 40 already consider themselves middle-aged.
  • 1 in 5 people over 60 still think they qualify.

So where’s the cutoff? When do you go from “young” to “not old, but not young”?

Some say 35 to 65 is fair, while others think that’s way too broad.
