Mariah Carey Cleared of ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ Copyright Claims 🎄🎶

It looks like the Queen of Christmas can officially keep her crown! A federal judge in Los Angeles has ruled that Mariah Carey did not steal her iconic holiday anthem, All I Want for Christmas Is You, from other songwriters.
🎤 The Lawsuit
In 2023, songwriters Andy Stone (aka Vince Vance) and Troy Powers filed a $20 million lawsuit against Carey, claiming her 1994 megahit infringed on their 1989 country song of the same name. Their argument? They believed there was an “overwhelming likelihood” that Carey had heard their track—especially since it once charted on Billboard’s Hot Country chart at No. 31.
⚖️ The Ruling
After reviewing expert testimony from both sides, the judge dismissed the case, stating that Stone and Powers failed to prove the two songs were substantially similar.
🎶 All I Want for Christmas Is... A Bigger Hit Than Ever
Despite being nearly 30 years old, Mariah’s holiday anthem is more popular than ever:
- No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 for six years in a row (not just the holiday charts!).
- A streaming and airplay giant every December.
- It is an undeniable Christmas classic that has become a cultural phenomenon.
So, the holiday season remains untouched—and Mariah's bank account is still collecting those royalties. Sorry, Vince Vance! 🎄✨
