IMAGINE IF YOUR BOSS COULD TRADE YOU TO ANOTHER COMPANY LIKE A PRO ATHLETE ⚾💼

The MLB trade deadline wrapped up this week, and while baseball fans were busy refreshing their phones, a strange question started making the rounds:
What if regular employees could be traded like professional athletes?
A new survey found that 23 per cent of people would actually be okay with being traded to another employer, including six per cent who said they'd absolutely love it.
Meanwhile, nearly one-third of people said they'd be furious, while another 31 per cent responded with the workplace equivalent of a shrug and admitted they'd never even thought about it.
Younger workers were much more open to the idea than older employees, which makes sense. It's a lot easier to pack up your desk and start over when you don't have a mortgage, three kids and a favourite parking spot.

Of course, imagine how ridiculous this would be in real life.
"Congratulations, Susan from accounting! You've been traded to a tech startup in Vancouver in exchange for two graphic designers and a regional sales manager to be named later."
Or picture the office rumours:
"Apparently, Dave from marketing is on the trade block. Management is looking for a stronger coffee-maker and someone who actually understands Excel."
The survey also asked whether employee trades would be good for the workplace in general. Only three per cent thought it would benefit workers, while 28 per cent figured it would mostly help employers.
Let's be honest: if office trades became a thing, we'd all immediately start checking our stats.
- Sick days used: 4
- Meetings survived: 327
- Times pretending to understand a spreadsheet: 892
- Times saying, "Let's circle back to that": 1,406
And you just know there would be fantasy leagues.
"I'll trade you my project manager, a stapler and half a tuna sandwich for Karen from HR and one extra vacation day."
Then again, if you've ever sat through a three-hour Zoom meeting that could have been an email, getting traded might not sound so bad after all. 🎙️🇨🇦
