Apparently, We're Showering WAY Too Long

Bad news for anyone who uses the shower as their personal spa, therapy session and escape from the family.

Apparently, you only need THREE MINUTES to shower.

The average person spends about 16 minutes in there, but an environmental scientist at the University of Surrey in England says that's way more time than we actually need.

According to him, one minute is enough to rinse and wash your body. Washing your hair? You get another minute for shampoo.

Using conditioner? Congratulations, Princess. You may have a third minute. That's it.

Meanwhile, some people reportedly spend close to 40 minutes in the shower.

RELATED: The internet has found its newest battleground and yes, it’s the shower.

At that point you're not showering. You've moved in. Forward your mail.

And if you really want to conserve water, the expert suggests turning the shower off while you're soaping up.

Which sounds lovely until you're standing naked and freezing in a Canadian bathroom in February thinking, "I'm saving the planet, but I've lost all feeling in my nipples."

Three minutes also raises some questions.

When am I supposed to have the imaginary argument with someone from 2007 that I finally win?

When do I rehearse conversations that will never happen?

When do I stare blankly at the wall and question every decision I've made since Grade 10?

Three minutes might be enough to clean your body...

But emotionally?

I'm gonna need the full 16.
