Rene Angelil, the entertainment maestro who guided Celine Dion to superstardom and then married her, has died, according to Francine Chaloult, a spokeswoman for Dion. He was 73. Angelil had been battling a recurrence of throat cancer since initially undergoing surgery for the condition in April 1999. He had to undergo another operation in December 2013.

An upcoming Friends reunion will be one pal short... On Wednesday, it was announced that the beloved cast of Friends, would be reuniting to pay tribute to comedy director James Burrows during a TV special. “Matthew will not be attending as he is in London in rehearsals for his play, The End of Longing, which begins previews on Feb. 2 at the Playhouse Theatre,” his rep writes in a statement.

 

After her Golden Globes win, Lady Gaga is looking to keep the awards rolling and become the youngest EGOT ever. This is a huge honour in the Hollywood/Awards world. It means you’ve won an Emmy Award, GRAMMY Award, Academy Award (Oscars) and Tony Award. If Lady Gaga wins the Oscar, she will be halfway to joining 12 others as an EGOT…and the youngest to hold the title. Gaga and Diane Warren’s song ‘Til It Happens To You’ for the movie The Hunting Ground was nominated for Best Original Song.

Canada may be getting its own version of a Political Trump! Kevin O’Leary, best known for his role on CBC’s Dragon’s Den is mulling over a run for the Federal Conservative leadership…. Another rich, abrasive businessman who moonlights as a reality TV star and evidently believes money is the best way to influence power…This week, O’Leary invested $1 million in a Canadian Energy company in Alberta….
