Footloose was released February 17th, 1984 on a budget of $8 million. The movie generated $80 million in the box office, becoming a career defining role for Kevin Bacon.

Fun fact: Both Tom Cruise and Rob Lowe were top choices to play the lead role before Kevin Bacon.
