It looks like the Queen of Christmas can officially keep her crown! A federal judge in Los Angeles has ruled that Mariah Carey did not steal her iconic holiday anthem, All I Want for Christmas Is You, from other songwriters.

🎤 The Lawsuit

In 2023, songwriters Andy Stone (aka Vince Vance) and Troy Powers filed a $20 million lawsuit against Carey, claiming her 1994 megahit infringed on their 1989 country song of the same name. Their argument? They believed there was an “overwhelming likelihood” that Carey had heard their track—especially since it once charted on Billboard’s Hot Country chart at No. 31.

⚖️ The Ruling

After reviewing expert testimony from both sides, the judge dismissed the case, stating that Stone and Powers failed to prove the two songs were substantially similar.
