One Direction celebrated 12 years of existence on Saturday, and footage from the X-Factor was released proving HOW the band came to be.
One Direction is still one of the most beloved boybands of the past decade! The group celebrated it’s 12th anniversary on Saturday (July 23) with a little… drama?
Just over a month ago, former 1D member Liam Payne claimed the band was “formed around him”. This lead to fans destroying him on social media!
The X-Factor decided to squash any possibility of that being the case by releasing FOOTAGE of the moment the group was formed.
We have Nicole Scherzinger to thank. That’s a weird sentence to write.
Spoiler alert: Liam wasn’t even a main thought.
Niall Horan was selected first for One Direction, then Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and to the dismay of Simon Cowell, finally Liam Payne.
Cowell even commented about Payne: “He thinks he’s better than anyone else”.
Zayn Malik was added last to the group (ironic).
