HOW TO SPOT AN A.I. INFLUENCER... BECAUSE APPARENTLY WE HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THIS NOW π€π±

As if regular influencers weren't already making us feel bad enough about our skin, homes, vacations and morning routines, now some of those suspiciously perfect people filling your feed aren't even people.
A.I.-generated influencers are becoming increasingly convincing, so experts say there are still a few clues that can help you figure out whether you're watching an actual human or somebody created by a computer.

1. They're suspiciously perfect.
Perfect skin. Perfect hair. Perfect body. Perfect kitchen. Somehow they're drinking a matcha latte on a beach in Greece at 10 a.m. on a Tuesday.
Meanwhile, real humans have pores, flyaway hairs and at least one weird bra strap showing.
And if a ridiculously attractive stranger randomly slides into your DMs and immediately thinks you're fascinating?
Proceed with caution, Romeo. You may be flirting with a laptop.
2. They're desperately trying to sell you something.
Be especially suspicious of accounts promising miracle health products, supplements or treatments.
If a beautiful stranger you've never met is telling you one gummy will fix your hormones, flatten your stomach, improve your sleep AND make your hair thicker...
That's not wellness advice. That's a red flag wearing yoga pants.
3. Check the hands and mouth. π
A.I. has historically struggled with hands, fingers and natural facial movements. Watch closely and you may notice fingers doing things fingers really shouldn't be capable of doing.
The mouth can also look slightly off when someone is speaking.
Although A.I. is getting better quickly, so the classic six-finger giveaway may not save us forever.
4. Watch how short the video is.
Very short clips can be another clue. The longer an A.I.-generated video runs, the more opportunities there are for something strange to happen.
A necklace disappears.
An earring changes sides.
A finger briefly becomes linguine.
So if you're suspicious, watch closely.
Because we've officially reached the point where scrolling social media requires the same investigative skills as watching CSI.
And remember: if an impossibly gorgeous 26-year-old influencer with perfect abs messages you out of nowhere saying, "I've been looking at your profile and I think you're really interesting..."
Before getting excited, count the fingers.
