Katy Perry Pulls Shoes Off Shelves After “Blackface” Complaints

A couple of weeks ago Gucci came underwire for advertising a black knitted “balaclava jumper,” which covers the lower half of the face and featured a red-lipped cut-out around the mouth. Many taking to social media to accuse and call out the designer for this act.
Definition of “blackface” — the controversial makeover white people adopt to look like black figures..
Last week a spokesperson for Katy’s shoes issued an apology and confirmed that they would be pulling a pair of shoes off the market.
The shoes are available in both white and black and both feature a face on the slip-ons…
