Barrie’s Counterfeit Spree Continues

Some more funny money in Barrie to tell you about here. Barrie Police say counterfeit currency was spent at the Freshii Restaurant in Park Place, and a nearby sub shop on October 27th. In both cases, it was a counterfeit American $50 bill spent, with real Canadian currency given back as change, and police believe there were three men involved this time. If you’ve lost count, that’s ten suspects police want in connection to passing funny money in the city since the beginning of October, so we reached out to Constable Nicole Rodgers with the Barrie Police Service to ask why so many lately?

The suspects in this latest spate of funny money spending are described as:

Suspect # 1

• Male, bi-racial
• Approximately 18-21 yrs.
• Thin build
• Thin mustache on upper lip
• Wearing a black hat, blue jacket, red “Roots” sweatshirt and red high top running shoes.

Suspect # 2

• Male, black
• Approximately 18-21 yrs.
• Thin build
• Wearing a black toque, black puffy jacket, blue jeans, red and white running shoes resembling “Air Jordon’s”.

Suspect # 3

• Male, black
• Approximately 18-21 yrs.
• Thin build
• Short curl black hair
• Wearing a green hooded sweatshirt, black jacket and black “Nike” shoes with a white sole.

Only two of three suspects were caught on camera.
