Someone spray-painted a dog in the Bracebridge-area. The owner told police it had wandered off and when it returned, it had vulgar words painted on its sides. The pooch appears to be unhurt, otherwise.

It is International Day of Pink – a celebration of diversity and a rallying cry against bullying and homophobia. Grade 6, 7 and 8 students from Barrie have once again decorated downtown storefronts in pink to drive home the message. Read more here.

Canadian Dollar on the Rise Money

Our dollar closed yesterday at 78.33 cents US – it’s highest mark since July of last year and more than a cent higher than when it bottomed out at 68 cents US in January. Higher prices for oil get credit for the rise.

Researchers at University of Washington say they have save and retrieved data using DNA. A single cubic millimetre of DNA can store 5.5 petabits of data – that’s more than 5000 terabits. Read more about that here.
