Barrie GO Trains To Run A Little Faster

Thanks to upgrades and other improvements, commuters will save 5 minutes on their daily trips to and from Barrie, starting June 27. Summer weekend GO Trains between Barrie and Toronto will also begin June 25.  Read more here.

Thousands attended vigils last night in Orlando

Investigators continued to look for motives behind the massacre, which resulted in 49 deaths. It appears the 29 year old gunman was a homegrown extremist, supporting not just ISIS but other radical groups as well. There is no indication, says the FBI, of a plot directed from outside the U.S.

The lens cap remains on red light cameras for Barrie

City Council last night received one report on their usefulness and will await another from police before debating the matter further. Mayor Jeff Lehman, while acknowledging less than 4 per cent of collisions at intersections are due to drives running a red light, points out such collisions can be very dangerous. Safety, he says, is the driving force behind the cameras, not revenue, noting the cameras are costly to purchase and maintain.
