Innisfil Hands Out Over 80k In Grant Money

Ten local organizations to share in grant money

Innisfil has made ten local groups’ day, after awarding their annual batch of community grants. The Innisfil Community Grant Review Committee whittled it down to ten applicants, including a film club, local theatre company, and a volunteer group. They will share in a total of $80,056. About 70% of the money handed out comes from community sponsorships, a portion is made up from OLG money from Georgian Downs. The recipients are as follows:

Carriage Driving for the Disabled To provide subsidies for a disabled person who can’t cover the cost of sessions, to promote the program to increase volunteers and awareness, and the assist with covering unexpected vet bills. $         1,500.00
South Simcoe Theatre To celebrate the theatre’s 50th anniversary with a special Anniversary Project which will include upgrades to the Box Office ticketing/website, present an Anniversary Production, and develop and present awards, and a permanent display celebrating 50 years. $        15,595.00
Parent Council of Holy Cross Catholic School To make improvements to the schoolyard, kindergarten yard and front landscaping of school to enhance quality of life for students and the community. $         3,000.00
Nottawasaga CEDC for South Simcoe Streams Network To add environmental enhancements to Lovers Creek and the pond at Centennial Park through communal stewardship events. To coordinate activities and outreach to the community and to engage volunteers. $         5,600.00
Innisfilm To assist the volunteer organization to purchase set up and production resources to improve quality of film productions, and to establish credibility and contribute to the Innisfil arts community.  $        14,000.00
Innisfil Lions Club Inc. To install an accessible door entry system at the hall to make the hall accessible to all residents of Innisfil. $         4,780.00
Parent Council of Goodfellow Public School To request funding for several environmental awareness, education, and greening efforts at the school.  $        11,081.00
Rotary Club of Innisfil To help cover the costs of the design and planning of the Rotary Trail that will meet the needs of municipal specifications for the different type of trails and hiring a landscape design architect. $        10,000.00
Crime Stoppers Simcoe Dufferin Muskoka To enhance and promote the programs and increase branding and awareness by installing signage in Innisfil and educational materials at events.  $        10,000.00
Gilford United Church To cover the costs of connecting to Town watermain which will decrease the health risk associated with using current water from dug well. $4,500
